Rv Rubber Roof Wrinkles

Wrinkles in the epdm rubber roof of a class a rv. It s critical to thoroughly clean the area you re patching so the adhesive will bond with the roof. Expansion or contraction of the rubber and some small areas with adhesive issues do occur resulting in bubbles wrinkles at times. Mainly the rubber is more prone to ripping on tree branches.

With time the wood flexes pops loose and you will see clear defined lines on your rv roof with a slight bubble in the rv roof. After you ve cleaned it apply the primer let it dry and then use the adhesive sealant to attach the patch to the roof. Our fw tpo roof looks the same the wrinkles aren t a problem. Many of the glues used really don t adhere well to the tape which results in the wrinkles that are typically seen. The roof had several ripples in it. Typically the seams on the roofing material plywood or whatever are taped over prior to the rubber membrane being glued to the surface. I did an inspection of a condo in a big complex today. Brand new building built in 2007.

Is this poor installation or is it pretty normal. If the membrane is intact you do not need an rv roof replacement in this situation. Certain brands of rv roofs are plywood that is stapled down on the edges. Wrinkles are very common on rubber roofs.
